Nijma Yusuf

Nijma Yusuf is a nurse anesthesiologist, entrepreneur, and passionate advocate for the CRNA profession. After graduating, she immediately launched her career as a 1099 locum tenens CRNA, gaining firsthand experience in building a flexible, independent practice. She is the founder and owner of Direct to Locums, a staffing agency dedicated to helping CRNAs transition to 1099 practice by simplifying and personalizing the job search and application process.
Through her experience as an independent provider, Nijma recognized significant gaps in mentorship, career guidance, and access to resources within the profession. To help bridge those gaps, she recently launched The Anesthesia Collective, a mentorship platform that brings together community, expertise, and shared experience to empower anesthesia providers with the knowledge, resources, and connections they need to thrive in both their careers and personal lives.
Beyond clinical practice, Nijma is an active leader within the profession, serving as a Region Director on the Illinois Association of Nurse Anesthesiologists (IANA) Board and as a member of the Federal PAC Committee. She is committed to advancing the profession by helping CRNAs recognize their potential, build fulfilling careers, and confidently take ownership of their professional journeys.
